Well, this was a short week! But we have had a good week! Sunday, we had some of our less Actives that we have been working with come to church for the first time in a long time! Yay! They have a desire to come back to church, and so they have turned to us, which is awesome! We had a pretty slow, but good week. Almost everyone is gone for the 4th of July week, so the work has been getting slower.
But today, I would love to share, since it is the 4th of July, how blessed we are to be in this land of liberty. We are blessed that we can worship God with our families, and that we have amazing men and women who sacrifice their lives so that they can protect our liberty and freedom! There is a great example in the Book of Mormon, of someone who had great courage and love for the liberty of his people. His name was Captain Moroni (Alma 48:11-13; 46:12 pg.329&323):
“11 And Moroni was a strong and a mighty man; he was a man of a perfect understanding; yea, a man that did not delight in bloodshed; a man whose soul did joy in the liberty and the freedom of his country, and his brethren from bondage and slavery;
12 Yea, a man whose heart did swell with thanksgiving to his God, for the many privileges and blessings which he bestowed upon his people; a man who did labor exceedingly for the welfare and safety of his people.
13 Yea, and he was a man who was firm in the faith of Christ, and he had sworn with an oath to defend his people, his rights, and his country, and his religion, even to the loss of his blood….And it came to pass that he rent his coat; and he took a piece thereof, and wrote upon it–In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children–and he fastened it upon the end of a pole.”
He wanted to help defend his people, and didn’t delight in the bloodshed of men. How grateful I am to have men and women who are willing to do that for us. May we continue to stand firm for our freedom, our families, and for our God!
I love you all so much! And happy 4th of July US!
